On Tuesday during an interview on Reno’s KTVN Channel 2 News, Jared Fisher talked about the commerce tax, school safety, the economy and his love for Nevada. He also explained why he believes his business background will help him win the primary. Below are two key highlights:
On being a political outsider
“People want change and people are tired of the ‘same old same old.’ Once again, let’s talk about the problems we have in Nevada. Nevada is currently and historically ranked in the bottom half of just about every category—whether it be healthcare or whether it be education—in most cases we’re at the very bottom of the list. But there’s one place where Nevada is ranked at the top of the list and people aren’t talking about it because they’re scared to get those people put into office, and that’s entrepreneurship. We’re rated number two in America for entrepreneurs. So why don’t we replace what’s not working with what is working. Let’s put our entrepreneurs; our business-minded people who know how to do real life solutions; let’s put them in charge in Carson City.
So I think that’s why we’re getting a lot of positive feedback on our run for governor is because people want change. Whether they like what Trump has done or not, they see that that change is mixing up the pool, so to speak, and it’s changing the dynamics of the what’s going on—good or bad—it’s changing those dynamics. People want change; people like change and I think that’s what we can bring to the table.” – Jared Fisher
On facing two established candidates in the primary
I face challenges all the time. I’m not worried about it. I think we have a great base. A lot of people in the political world have underestimated us up to this point. But the polls are showing—at least on our end—that we are gaining. And now people are starting to pay attention to us more and more.” – Jared Fisher
