Jared’s Journey to Help Nevada Continues as He Meets with Doctors, Conservationists

By Alan Snel

One night, Jared Fisher was talking health care issues with about a dozen medical professionals to learn more about that topical subject.

It was an amazing collection of health care experts—they included a urologist, a chiropractor, a pediatric surgeon, a physical therapist, an insurance agent, a diabetes educator and a pediatrician—all gathered to discuss health care issues with Jared at his tourism business in Summerlin.

The next night on Thursday, Jared—the candidate for governor—was at a Nevada Conservation League event at UNLV campus about Climate Change and Drought in Southern Nevada.

Afterwards, Jared spoke with the keynote speaker and former General Manager of the Las Vegas Valley Water District, Pat Mulroy.

“She’s savvy. Her knowledge of our water resources is extensive,” Jared said of Mulroy.

Then, he spent some time with the panel members, Dr. Matthew Lachniet, Geochemist and Colby Pellegrino, Director of the LVVWD Water Resources Department.  Dr. Lynn Fenstermaker was also an informative, contributing member of the panel.  She is the Deputy Director at Desert Research Institute and board member of the National Space Grant Foundation and NASA EPSCor Caucus.

This is Jared’s campaign–making connections with people in the trenches such as doctors one night, then experts working in the field of Nevada’s water supplies the next.

Interestingly enough, Jared saw the connections of these two nights along the campaign trail.

“We’re all organics,” Jared said as he waited to chat with Mulroy in the auditorium at the Greenspun building off Maryland Parkway. “It’s all connected. It’s all about the health of the planet and people.”

Jared is all about learning about the issues from the people dealing with the issues on a daily basis. He learned about how vital it is to conserve water in Nevada. And the issues are not as simple as they may look.

Only the night before, Jared talked one-on-one with doctors over pizza and sub sandwiches.

“This is a very exciting journey,” Nick Fiore, a pediatric general surgeon at Summerlin Hospital, told Jared.

Indeed, it’s a literal journey for Jared through the heartland of Nevada to find out what people are feeling on the issues. During the days leading up to both evening events, Jared spent time editing a trailer video showing the connections he’s making with Nevadans of all stripes. Stay tuned for the release of that trailer.

Regardless of the political backgrounds of the doctors, there was one fact that was recognized by all the participants.

“Jared is very passionate about Nevada, which I respect,” said Dr. Michael Verni, the urologist.

The doctors share their opinions about the pros and cons of our current healthcare situation and how this issue will play out in Nevada.

“It’s a costly issue and I don’t know what the solution is,” Dr. Fiore said.

Jared was there to do his homework, listen to people and work together on potential solutions.

Jared is on a journey to find out about Nevada to help Nevada.
