The Right to Bear Arms
I will not pass any gun legislation that is going to negatively affect law-abiding Nevadans’ right to Bear Arms.
In order to ensure our right to own guns exists in the future, we should not pass more laws. Instead, we should focus on enforcing the laws we already have.
Nevada is a unique state in that the majority of our tax revenues come from live entertainment and gaming revenues as well as sales and use tax. We are a world-class tourism destination that is nearly 60% dependent on the economic benefits delivered by the hospitality industry.
Thus, it is in our best interest to ensure that we do whatever is necessary to protect the tourism industry and preserve Nevada’s reputation for being an exciting yet safe place to visit. After all, it only takes one mass-shooting incident to cause long-lasting and irrevocable damage to Nevada’s tourism industry, and subsequently, our economy.
I believe this is an ECONOMIC issue. We are PATRIOTIC when we care enough to keep weapons out of those who hate our country. The best way we can protect our rights to Bear Arms is to show that we care about safety and care about being responsible gun owners.
